SEIRA ASHLEY ADAMS

EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGIST

Investigating fundamental questions about the mechanisms of speciation across micro- and macro-evolutionary scales.

I am an evolutionary biologist and arachnologist studying the mechanisms that generate and maintain reproductively isolated lineages.

My research integrates chemical ecology, comparative genomics, behavioral biology, and morphology to investigate how sexual signals and ecological divergence interact to drive reproductive isolation.

Focusing on the adaptive radiation of Tetragnatha spiders across the Hawaiian chronosequence, diverse ecoregions in California, and remote archipelagos in the Pacific, my work explores the evolutionary role of chemical sexual signals in speciation.
